The HSHPS/NIOSH Internship Program is a 9-week paid traineeship that places students and recent graduates at one of the five locations in the United States ( Washington, DC, Atlanta, GA, Cincinnati, OH, Pittsburgh, PA, and Spokane, WV). The program provides each trainee with an increased understanding of public health and NIOSH as the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness. Also, each trainee is matched, according to the area of interest outlined in his/her application, with a mentor who is an experienced scientist/researcher at NIOSH. In addition, the trainee will assist his/her mentor with various aspects of a current specific project (to be determined upon acceptance into program).
